Cholsin Limited (CSL) is 72.1% owned and operated by Tongkah Harbour. The operation is located near Kaeng Khoi in Saraburi province and has been ongoing since 1998 at annual production capacity of up to 360,000 tons. The major markets are the contractors for State Railways of Thailand in track laying and maintenance projects, and contractors for the Highways Department in road construction and maintenance projects. CSL’s five-year crushing plant permit, granted on 31 December 2002, expired on December 31, 2007. A renewal application was filed at the Saraburi Industrial Works Office on October 16, 2007 and an extension was granted valid to 31 December 2012.
Plant Operations & Production
Original plant personnel acquired relevant rock crushing experience as underground mining operators at the former Toh Moh gold mine in southern Thailand. Subsequently, local personnel have acquired operations training as technology transfer to the local community’s labor force. Production capacity is about 250 tons per hour. Sales and prices charged are dependent on demand for any particular product and the ability to meet client specifications (such as particle shape and abrasive index).
Production and Delivery
Although demand for our product is high, contractors have not always been able to take deliveries as initially scheduled as logistics and managerial problems at major client project sites remained unsettled.
Contract Prospects
According to current Government budget planning, bidding for extensive maintenance and double tracking in the Central region requiring some 850,000 tons of ballast will be resumed this year. Our quarry is in a good competitive location to supply this demand.
