Tongkah Harbour makes more mining history in Thailand with the export of gold-copper concentrates from its mining operations (Tungkum limited) at Loei, northeast Thailand. It is the first time gold-copper concentrates are being exported from Thailand for overseas refining.

Tungkum Limited had recently completed installation of flotation apparatus for the treatment of its gold-bearing copper sulfide ore, resulting in reduced gold production costs plus revenue from the copper sales.

Transport and export permits have been granted by the Government’s DPIM department for the first 500 tonne shipment on 7 September 2009, with further shipments in preparation. Tungkum limited will be exporting the gold-copper concentrates on a regular basis beginning in October 2009 and, at the same time, continue with production and export of gold dore as before.
